ABOUT THE PROJECT
Curiosity, with
care.
Talk2Nature is an early-stage independent initiative founded by Raviv to explore a question: how can people better understand communication in the living world?
Where we stand
The project is establishing its scope, tools and scientific connections. Talk2Nature is a working name; no registered legal entity, scientific advisory board or confirmed institutional partnership is represented here.
Our editorial promise
Each research note links to its sources, describes what was actually reviewed and separates findings from limitations. AI helps draft and organize material; that is not a substitute for specialist review. The initial notes have not yet received independent scientific review.
Open work and a sustainable project
Original code uses Apache-2.0 and original public summaries use CC BY 4.0. Third-party works and model weights retain separate terms. Managed research pilots or hosting may eventually support the project; no paid service or donation program is currently offered.
Privacy
This version has no sign-up form, analytics script, advertising, cookies set by the site, or audio-upload function. Search, Listen, Nature Station and the mobile web app run in your browser. The mobile app can optionally cache an explicit set of public pages, code and artwork for offline use; this cache never includes recordings, notes or private workspace responses. Offline registration is scoped to the public app. Clear this site’s browser storage to remove its offline files; removing a home-screen icon alone may not clear storage. Listen reads a WAV that you select and keeps its waveform and labels in tab memory. It does not send recordings or labels to us and does not save them to browser storage. Exported files stay on your device until you choose to share or delete them. Closing the tab clears its working session; downloads remain. Nature Station requests the microphone only when you confirm permission and press Start. It retains short level-triggered clips and your markers in tab memory, stops on backgrounding or interruption, and supports manual exports. It has no speech/privacy classifier: people nearby may be recorded, and exported files require your review. Discarding a clip removes its audio and review note; its event ID and time remain until the whole session is discarded so deletion is not described as silence. The separate eight-second phone rehearsal processes microphone frames into temporary aggregate readings, never saves or uploads sound, and is not a calibration. Station’s journal-only export does not include audio; its session ZIP does. Listen notebooks contain their WAV and annotations together. Use aliases and avoid personal information in labels. The public website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical request information, including IP addresses, under its privacy statement. The Watch & learn page initially contacts no video provider. Choosing Load YouTube player connects to YouTube through its privacy-enhanced embed domain; the provider can receive technical request information and applies its own policies. Playback does not start automatically. The contribution helper prepares a draft locally; choosing its GitHub link sends the draft to GitHub, where posting is a separate action. External links take you to independently operated websites.
